UCU Lady Canons take the lead in the best of five semifinals semifinals National Basketball League playoffs.
UCU Lady Canons secured a hard-fought 79-71 victory against KCCA Leopards in the NBL encounter at Lugogo Indoor Arena on Wednesday.
The Leopards opened a 7-0 run before Sylivia Nantongo made an easy layup. At the end of the opening frame, the Canons took a three-point (23-20) lead.
Igiraneza Christa Ciella concluded the second quarter with a 3-point shot as the Lady Canons took a 10-point (45-35) lead before the break.
Coming from the break, the Canons kept the foot on the gas pedal, creating a 16-point (66-50) lead before the final frame.
In the last frame, the Leopards started like a camp on fire as Ninette Uwineza and Tracy Namugosa dropped tripples respectively. At the end of the game, the Canons bagged an eight-point victory.
Sylivia Nakituka (21 points), Sylivia Nantongo (20 points) and Zoe Atek (11 points) led the Lady Canons in double digits.
On the other hand, Tracy Namugosa (23 points), Angella Zainah Lokwameri (13 points) and Sherinah Mwenyango (10 points) scored double digits for the Leopards.
