Omar Artan to officiate 2026 CECAFA Kagame Cup final in Kigali

The announcement comes at the semi-final stage where Rwanda’s Rayon Sport face South Sudan’s Jamus and Sudan’s Al Hilal take on South Kenya’s Gor Mahia on Tuesday at Pele stadium, Kigali.

Somalian referee Omar Artan will officiate the 2026 CECAFA Kagame Cup final in Kigali, the Council for East and Central African Football (CECAFA) has confirmed due on Friday August 7.

The announcement comes at the semi-final stage where Rwanda’s Rayon Sport face South Sudan’s Jamus and Sudan’s Al Hilal take on South Kenya’s Gor Mahia on Tuesday at Pele stadium, Kigali.

Artan, the best referee on the continent made news when he was denied entry into the United States prior to the Fifa World Cup 2026 in June and he got an appointment from UEFA for the Super Cup between PSG and Aston Villa.

He will be assisted by Djibouti’s Liban Abdulrazack and Kenya’s Eliezer Stephen Yiembe.

It will be the last assignment for the Artan and his mates before flying to Salzburg, Austria for the UEFA Super Cup on August 12.
