Heathens playmaker Aaron Ofoyrwoth has received a 10 match ban in the National 7s series at the Rujumba 7s.
Ofoyrwoth has been at the core of Heathens’ title ambitions alongside a star studded cast of players like Malcom Okello and Denis Etwau. Heathens were honoured to open the Rujumba 7s at Kings Park Arena against Eagles, but were hit with an early blow when Ofoyrwoth was sent to the sin bin. Regardless, the Heathens emerged as 24-00 victors over the Eagles.
In the last round of Day 1, Heathens faced off against Black Pirates, the hosts of the Rujumba 7s. The game was fairly balanced, but the highlight was the high tackle by Ofoyrwoth on Conrad Wanyama. The Pirates’ stalwart found himself at the wing, where he put in a good run but was stopped by Ofoyrwoth who couldn’t get his tackle height against a Wanyama.
The Heathens playmaker initially received a yellow card for that offence, but it was upgraded to a red card and a 10 week ban, which is equivalent to to a 10 match ban.
With 3 games to go at the Rujumba 7s since Hathens is the quarterfinal, Ofoyrwoth has totally been ruled out of the Kyadondo 7s.
He will only make a return in the Gulu 7s, where his experience will be needed for the Heathens to close the gap on Walukuba, Buffaloes and Pirates who finished ahead of Heathens at the Stone City 7s.
