Kitara FC have advanced to the semi-finals of the ongoing FUFA Super 8 tournament.
Kitara suffered a 1-0 loss to Police in the FUFA Super 8 encounter at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo on Thursday evening.
However due to the commanding 4-0 victory in the first leg, the Royals comfortably matched to the last four of the tournament.
Coming into the game, Police made two changes introducing goalkeeper Hadji Shukuru and Fazil Tumwine for Sammon Oloka and Bedia Ikamba.
The Cops started on the front foot looking bright, creating chances but faced a firm Kitara backline that denied them a clear look on goal.
At the start of the second stanza, Ikamba was among the three entrants introduced to bring new energy in the Cops’ middle park.
Second half substitute, Ikamba broke the deadlock in the 67th minute with a sublime finish after being set up by Ivan Mayanja’s pinpoint assist.
In response, Kitara made several changes to bring on new firepower upfront and match Police’s attack.
However, the Cops’ backline stood firm and tall to secure a clean sheet on the day.
While Kitara switch their attention to chase the FUFA Super 8 title, Police will be out to fight for a better position in the ranking.
