Charles Lwanga announced his return to KCCA in style after scoring as KCCA edged BUL 2-1 in the FUFA Super 8 on Saturday.
KCCA got better of BUL as the two faced off in the FUFA Super 8 Tournament on Saturday at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo. This was the first game of the 2026 edition that brings together the top eight ranked teams from the previous UPL season.
A goal each from returnee Lwanga and Saidi Mayanja guided KCCA to a 2-1 win with Reagan Kalyowa getting the consolation for BUL.
The tournament serves as a precursor for the new season with eight teams playing four games each.
At this stage (quarterfinals), teams face off over two legs with the winners on aggregate progress to the semifinals.
Both teams handed starts to their new signings with Yunus Sibira, Elvis Ngonde and Charles Lwanga starting for KCCA.
On the other hand, BUL also handed starts to Jeans Brady Wokorach, Cyrus Kibande, Faizo Matovu, George Kaddu, Frank Katongole and George Masembe.
Lwanga fired KCCA into the lead in the 14th minute, tapping from close range. The lead was however shorlived with Kalyowa scoring from the spot three minutes later when Herbert Achai fouled Dennis Ssewagudde in the box.
KCCA would eventually regain their lead in the 68th minute through Mayanja and held on to win 2-1.
KCCA and BUL will face off on Friday next week with the winner on aggregate progressing to the semifinals.
In the other game played on Saturday, Maroons scored a late equalizer through Marvin Oshab to force a one-all draw against SC Villa. Aslam Ssemakula had put the Jogoos ahead in the first half.
Action will continue on Sunday with Kitara facing Entebbe UPPC while Police will take on NEC FC.
