CAF has officially suspended Senegal coach Pape Bouna Thiaw for five matches and imposed a USD 100,000 fine following unsporting behavior in the AFCON final against Morocco.
The disciplinary action stems from Thiaw’s attempt to withdraw his team from the field for over ten minutes in protest of a refereeing decision.
Despite the delay, Senegal eventually finished the match and won 1-0 to claim the trophy. However, the Disciplinary Board emphasized that such actions discredit the competition and the authority of the officials.
With the Senegal football federation yet to respond, the reigning champions now face a period of uncertainty as their head coach begins his lengthy spell away from the technical area.
