- UCU Lady Canons 55-70 KCCA Leopards (2-1)
Tracy Namugosa was the star of the day as the KCCA Leopards won game three to extend the semifinals National Basketball League playoffs to game four.
KCCA Leopards secured a well-deserved 70-55 victory against UCU Lady Canons in the NBL encounter at Lugogo Indoor Arena on Wednesday evening.
Namugosa led the Leopards scoring chart with 24 points while Sharua Nakirya (14 points) and Zainah Lokwameri (13 points) joined in double digits.
On the other hand, Matrina Anyango recorded a double-double dropping 14 points and making 11 rebounds. Sylvia Nantongo added 14 points for the Lady Canons.
Sylivia Nantongo got the game underway with a jumpshot but Tracy Namugosa responded with a floating jumpshot. At the end of the opening period, the Leopards opened up a seven-point (16-9) lead.
Tracy Namugosa was a thorn in the Canons’ side as she led the band, while the Leopards extended their lead to 12 points (25-13) with 4:37 minutes remaining..
With three minutes remaining on the clock, the Lady Canons went on an 8-0 run, with Sylivia Nantongo sinking back-to-back 3-point shots before Syliva Nakituka’s layup. Going into the long break, the Canons were trailing by four points (23-27).
Coming from the halftime break, the Lady Canons lost their heads making several turnovers and the Leopards punished them opening a 12-point lead (49-37) at the end of the third frame.
In the final frame it was a one-way traffic as the Leopards bagged a dominant 15-point victory on the day.
