The Uganda Golf fraternity has received a major boost with the timely addition of key stakeholders, including the Sunshine Development & Bet Tour and Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) for the upcoming event dubbed the East African Swing.
This is a historic milestone as the Pearl of Africa Golf Series becomes Uganda’s first Official World Ranking professional golf tournament under the Sunshine Development & BET Tour.
This event will take place from 16th to 19th September 2026 at the par-71 Entebbe Club.

The development was officially announced during a media interface held at Entebbe Club on Wednesday, 5th August 2026.
Speaking on behalf of the POA Organising team, Edwin Tumusiime expressed delight at the event earning the Sunshine Development Tour status.
Tumusiime welcomed the new partners on board, beefing up the tournament that has elevated through leaps and bounds.
“The Pearl of Africa (POA) Golf Series continues to grow, taking the golf trajectory upwards. POA officially becomes Uganda’s first Official World Ranking professional golf tournament under the Sunshine Development & BET Tour. The tournament will tee off with the PRO-Am on 16th September 2026 before three rounds for the professionals and the main event, where the subsidiary category will take place,” Tumusiime remarked.
The Sunshine Development Tour representative, Lucas Kyle, anticipates a competitive tournament with the finest players across the continent taking part.
“The tournament will be graced by some of the best players in Africa, and therefore, we expect a competitive championship,” Lucas remarked.
Uganda Golf Union (UGU) vice president Paul Charles Rukundo tags the championship as a big “milestone”, one that will revamp Uganda’s professional golf.
“The POA Series being part of the Sunshine Development Tour is a big milestone to the golf fraternity in Uganda. This is an extraordinary resurgence of the game in the country and regionally. We expect wild class competition from the best professionals led by Ronald Rugumayo, Grace Kasango, David Kamulinda, Rodell Gaita, Phillip Kasozi and others. The tournament will also lead to regional elevation as it will open doors to the best players in East Africa and elsewhere. Therefore, we anticipate the best field,” Rukundo noted.
The Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) joins other partners, such as Exim Bank, Vivo Energy, Afromania, Aquafina and CASE Hospital, among others.
